Radu (born March 16, 2006) is currently in Spain, where he is participating in junior ITF tournaments, J200 and J300, on clay.

On Friday, he contested a semi-final at the Benicarlo event, beating second favorite Ognjen Milic (54 ITF) along the way. Thanks to the 100 accumulated points, the Ilfovian will climb to around 86th place, becoming the second Romanian in the U18 hierarchy and among the best ranked in recent years.

Our player is trained by Victor Hănescu (former 26 ATP) and helped by those from his academy. He aims to enter the Top 30 by the end of the season, where only five other Romanians have reached in the last 9 years, as well as participation in Roland Garros, Wimbledon and the US Open. In January he qualified for the main draw at the Australian Open.

Radu was diagnosed with epilepsy at the age of 8, although the symptoms have been rarer and rarer over the years and he has a mild form of dyschromatopsia, according to statements made by his father, Răzvan Țurcanu, for MediaFax.
