The event took place in 2011, as part of the Folk You Festival in Vama Veche. The rapper became the target of boos and curses, despite the fact that he was very popular at the time, with songs such as “Undeva-n Balkani” and “Change”. Moreover, Puya was even attacked with bottles and other objects by the disgruntled spectators.

In a recent interview given to Mihai Bobonete's podcast, the artist recalled that incident, emphasizing that the tense atmosphere was generated by the fact that his musical style was considered too commercial for the tastes of the present audience.

“We had a show at Vama Veche. I was invited to some folk gathering. The folkists did not appreciate it. They thought it sounded manela or something. It was too commercial for them”Puya confessed, recalling the moment with amusement.

Despite the violent reactions, the artist continued to complete his recital. The situation seemed to be getting out of control.

“The gendarmes came to get me out of there, it was a mini revolution”Puya revealed, adding that he was aware of the hype created before the event, possibly orchestrated by some members of the public.

Duke Bertzi, “one of those”

However, the artist found some humor in the unfortunate incident, noting that despite the fierce opposition, he would be willing to return to Vama Veche to support his music.

“I was the worst possible thing for those people over there. But now I burst out laughing, I get such satisfaction from that… I would say to them: “Hey, folkists! If you somehow want to see rockers in Vama Veche, you must have a concert with me»”,
Puya said.

He also revealed that one of those who incited the public against him was famous singer Ducu Bertzi.

“Ducu Bertzi is one of those who agitated the folkists. Ducu Bertzi is one of those, you know”the rapper also specified.

At the 2011 edition of the Folk You festival, organized at Vama Veche, famous names from the Romanian music industry were present, such as Mircea Baniciu, Vama, Florin Chilian, Zdob și Zdub, Holograf, Taxi, Tudor Gheorghe and Nicu Alifantis.
