On Saturday, during the show “Insider Politic” on Prima TV, the liberal Raluca Turcan declared that the Ministry of Culture, which she leads, is underfunded, with only 0.08 percent of the Gross Domestic Product being allocated to it. She complained that, for this reason, Romania runs the risk of not being represented at important international events and that she ended up humiliating herself in front of her colleagues in the Executive in order to obtain “with pennies”.
“With this money, the people who watch TV expect the Minister of Culture to restore heritage objectives, because the Ministry of Culture was absent in the institutional absorption of European funds, on the multi-annual exercise or on the PNRR.
So, from this money we must restore heritage objectives, finance cultural events, pay salaries, and if possible have an extraordinary representation abroad.
Sometimes I end up humiliating myself, because I’m ashamed of myself, taking myself to my colleagues in the Government, trying to sound the alarm and get pennies for the representation of Romania at the Reunion of Theaters in Chisinau, for example, for the season cultural Romania – Poland, for cultural events”, said the Minister of Culture, on Saturday, on Prima TV.
Raluca Turcan wanted to warn, however, that as regards the payment of salaries to the employees in this field, it is ensured.
“The problem of not covering the payment of salaries was never raised” Raluca Turcan wanted to give assurances.
