The Rapid football club today officially parted ways with coach Costel Gâlcă (54 years old), after the group from Giulești missed the goal: qualifying for the European Cups. Rapid finished 5th in the play-offs.
The announcement of the split was made on the band’s Facebook page under the Grant Bridge. Along with the “principal” left the team and his collaborators: Dumitru Uzunea (second coach), Ciprian Prună (physical trainer) and Marius Francisc (video analyst).
Upon Gâlcă’s departure, some recalled the fact that he had to go through hard times on a personal level, after losing both his father and brother.
A supporter, Alain Dirzu, summarized a year with Gâlcă at the helm: “He left the impression of a professional, but Giuleştiul needs nerve, pathos and a spectacular game – things that were missing during his tenure. I didn’t like his game philosophy. What will be in the future, we will see. I hope that Pancone will be supported more than Sumi was. From a speedster, the expectations will be much higher“.
Costel Gâlcă’s place would be taken by Daniel Pancu (48 years old), who will not continue at CFR Cluj, a team he took to 3rd place (which ensures qualification in the Conference League).
