The first vice-president of the PNL, Rareș Bogdan, said on Wednesday that he wants the current coalition with the PSD to continue for another 10 years, with the leader of the liberals, Nicolae Ciucă, as the country's president.

“About 10 years from now, like in Germany. In the CDU-SPD coalition, of which the liberal FDP was also a part from time to time, a kind of UDMR, certainly in something else, not related to ethnicity in the German FDP, the first violin was always the CDU. I want the first violin to be Nicolae Ciucă, respectively PNL, in partnership with the SPD, not Mr. Scholz or Mr. Schroeder, but Mr. Ciolacu“, said Rareș Bogdan, to Digi24, after being asked what is the point until which PNL wants a coalition with PSD.
The first vice-president of the PNL reiterated, saying that he wants the leader of the liberals, Nicolae Ciucă, to be the president of the country in the next 10 years.
“When I spoke for 10 years, talking about Mrs. Merkel, with a parliamentary regime like the German one, in which the chancellor also has roles that the president has, I actually talked about a power projection for 10 years of a new president, Nicolae Ciuca”, said Rareș Bogdan, when asked if he wants a coalition for the next decade with the same two presidents of PSD, Marcel Ciolacu, and PNL, Nicolae Ciucă.
Last month, the first vice-president of the PNL stated regarding the PNL-PSD coalition, that it is “a marriage of convenience”made as a result of the war in Ukraine.

Rareș Bogdan also reacted to a statement by the general secretary of the PSD, Paul Stănescu, who expressed his anger at a statement by the PNL MEP.
“Do you know what I would have declared in Mr. Stănescu's place? That I am glad that our colleagues who lead liberal counties managed to flow milk and honey, now is the time for us to win, and to take the milk and honey and go to the citizens. His lordship chose a different way to answer, perhaps he was slightly nervous. PSD General Secretary Paul Stănescu said on Tuesday that he was upset by the fact that PNL MEP Rareş Bogdan said that the liberal administrations are flowing with milk and honey, and the situation is not very good in the social-democratic ones.
“I saw a news story with Mr. Rareş Bogdan, which pissed me off, really bad. Rareş Bogdan told us. He said that where there are liberal administrations, milk and honey flow and where there are PSD administrations, it is not very good“, said Paul Stănescu, at the Election Conference of the PSD Bucharest Organization, according to News.ro.
Paul Stănescu told Rareş Bogdan that PSD had a good government in Bucharest between 2016 and 2020, but between 2020 and 2024 the majority formed by PNL and USR was in power, and the results are worth seeing. “I would tell our colleagues to respect us, so that we can respect them too”added Stanescu.
“Mr. Rareş Bogdan, let's talk about Bucharest. The best example is Bucharest, from here the exact time is given. In 2016-2020, PSD had a good governance in Bucharest. In 2020-2024, we had a majority made up of PNL and USR, and the results are visible. After 4 years of administration in Bucharest, they take less than 15%, we take more than 30%. Who did administration better, us or them? I would tell our colleagues to respect us, so that we can respect them too”, the general secretary of the PSD also said, according to the quoted source.
PNL first vice-president Rareş Bogdan declared, on Tuesday in Buzău, that where there are liberals in charge of the counties, milk and honey flow, and where there are socialists, the situation is different, with a few exceptions.
