El Clasico came at a time when both Real Madrid and Barcelona were on a roll, after Ancelotti’s side crushed Dortmund (5-2) in the Champions League in midweek and the Catalans won on Bayern Munich (4-1) after nine years.
After a first half in which no goals were scored, after the break Barcelona started the recital. Robert Lewandowski scored twice in the 54th and 56th minutes and could have had a hat-trick, but he missed a huge opportunity moments later, hitting the bar with an empty net.
Barcelona wonderkid Lamine Yamal made it 3-0 with a stunning finish, after which Raphinha – the hero of the game against Bayern – also got his name on the scoreboard.
