More than 10,000 candidates registered for the 2024 Residency competition, according to data centralized on November 1 by the Ministry of Health and published on rezidentiat.ms.ro.

How many students have registered for Residency 2024
On November 17, in the main university centers in the country, graduates of medicine and pharmacy will compete for places or positions in medicine, pharmacy or dentistry. Thousands of students enrolled in Bucharest, Cluj-Napoca, Craiova, Iasi, Târgu Mureș and Timișoara. Most of them are in the capital.
- Bucharest – 3,993 registered candidates: 2,404 in Medicine, 930 in Dental Medicine, 659 in Pharmacy.
- Cluj-Napoca – 1,371 registered candidates: 790 in Medicine, 246 in Dental Medicine, 335 in Pharmacy.
- Craiova – 1,019 registered candidates: 585 in Medicine, 198 in Dental Medicine, 236 in Pharmacy.
- Iasi – 1,814 registered candidates: 999 in Medicine, 490 in Dental Medicine, 325 in Pharmacy.
- Târgu Mureș – 828 registered candidates: 460 in Medicine, 159 in Dental Medicine, 209 in Pharmacy.
- Timișoara – 1,550 enrolled: 1,003 in Medicine, 338 in Dental Medicine, 209 in Pharmacy.
In total, 10,575 graduates of medical and pharmaceutical studies will participate in the 2024 Residency competition, with the most candidates enrolled in the Medicine specialization (6,241), followed by Dentistry (2,361) and Pharmacy (1,973). The Ministry of Health has put almost 5,000 places and 237 positions in the competition for entry into the 2024 Residency.
Resident 2024. How the written test will be conducted
On the day of the test, candidates can enter the hall where they have been assigned from 8.30 am. They must have their bulletin, identity card, passport or residence permit, documents that must be within their validity period. Those without such a valid document are not admitted to the competition hall.
The students are seated in the hall in alphabetical order, according to the final lists displayed, with the exception of husband-wife, brother-sister pairs, who have the obligation, under penalty of cancellation of the paper and elimination from the competition, to report these situations to the head of the hall, in order to be placed separately. Candidates are seated in the hall in such a way that there is at least one free seat between 2 candidates, respecting the distance of at least 1 meter.
Starting at 9:00 a.m., the answer grids are distributed to the candidates and a black carioca to fill in the grid (both for filling in the answers considered correct and for filling in the identity data).
The exam consists of a grid test containing 200 questions and students will have four hours to complete the requirements. The minimum passing score is 60% of the maximum score. For reasons of cyber security, on the day of the competition, between 10.00 and 14.00, the official websites of the universities of medicine and pharmacy suspend their activity.
Residency 2024. Occupancy of positions
After the 2024 residency exam, the occupation of the places/positions in the specialty is done in the order of the passing score obtained, within the limits of the places/positions published in the competition. Doctors, dentists and pharmacists who become residents on places conclude an individual employment contract for a fixed period, equal to the duration of the residency, with the health unit to which the places for the residency were assigned. Doctors, dentists and pharmacists who become residents on the post conclude an individual employment contract for an indefinite period with the health unit.
