Restricted traffic on DN1, direction Brașov-Ploiesti, after a landslide in the Cornu area

Road traffic in Valea Prahova was restricted on Tuesday, December 16, on National Road 1 (DN1), due to a landslide produced at the level of the road embankment. The incident took place outside the town of Cornu, on the Brașov – Ploiești road.

According to the information provided by the Prahova County Police Inspectorate, traffic was restricted on lane 1. The measure was taken to protect the public road and to prevent possible accidents.

The INFOTRAFFIC Center of the General Inspectorate of the Romanian Police informs that, following the evaluations carried out after a landslide that led to the overturning of part of the embankment of the carriageway (sidewalk), for the safety of traffic participants, the measure was taken to restrict traffic on the first lane, between kilometers 99+150 meters – 99+050 meters, on DN 1 in the direction of Brașov towards Ploiești, in the area of the town of Cornu, county Prahova.

“As a result of the appearance in the public space of some information regarding a possible landslide that could affect traffic on DN1 (E60), outside the town of Cornu, the traffic police from the Road Service together with representatives of the National Roads Section Ploiești – Câmpina District, carried out on-site checks. As a result, it was found that the landslide occurred on the embankment side of the carriageway, on the road sector between km 99+150 m – 99+050 m, on lane no. 1 of the direction of travel Brașov – Ploiesti”, announced the Prahova Police.

The authorities stated that the restriction is properly signposted and the area is monitored to avoid any additional risk for road users.

For now, traffic is moving with difficulty on the Brașov – Ploiești direction, as some blockages are possible, especially in heavy traffic conditions.
