Ken Wharfe, who protected Princess Diana for years while serving as a Scotland Yard officer, has given his opinion on how Diana would have felt about her ex-husband marrying the current Queen Consort Camilla Parker Bowles, according to the Mirror.

His comments come as crowds of royal enthusiasts gathered at Diana’s former residence, Kensington Palace in London, where they laid flowers to mark 27 years since her death.

“Part of the problem was that Diana naively believed that the relationship with Camilla would disappear (…) But let’s be honest, Camilla was there from day one”he declared.

“And because of Diana’s openness, she felt it necessary to tell me everything about the relationship. I questioned this at the time, but listening to her made me understand Diana better. And she believed naive that it would end. I have no doubt that Diana loved Charles. I mean, she told me that repeatedly.”added the former bodyguard.

Princess Diana tragically died aged 36 in a car crash in Paris on 31 August 1997, five years after separating from Charles, their divorce being finalized in 1996.

Camilla and Charles went public with their relationship two years after the tragic accident that claimed Diana’s life.

Diana opened up about their tumultuous relationship in a televised interview that became famous, declaring: “There were three of us in this marriage, so it was a bit crowded.”

Ken expressed his opinion that Diana and Charles would not have resumed their relationship even if she had lived. Regarding a potential reconciliation, he opined: “From my own life experience, you move on and you change, you temper yourself a bit and you handle situations in a much calmer way.”

“Time, as everyone says, is a great healer. Diana was angry at the Prince of Wales, angry at her circumstances, angry at Camilla, angry at everyone”he also declared.

He added that “things heal. And as time went on, she would now be in her 60s, she would accept”.
