A parent draws attention to the attention that the announcement made by the Minister of Education Tuesday, Daniel David, regarding the fact that the school scholarships will no longer be granted according to the rules of the present, will hit even in students with very high average, even if the announced threshold is note 9. “They will understand as little as they are not appreciated in Romania”draws attention to the parent.

Romania no longer allows to pay the school scholarships further according to the current rules, the Minister of Education announced. Daniel David mentioned, in the first message posted after the reinstruction as Minister of Education, that in Romania the expenses with scholarships reach 7 billion lei, “that is, almost a quarter of the deficit for which we return the country on the back and everywhere the budget of research-development-invitation in the country ”.
“The spectacular growth of the last few years cannot be supported. I think it was a good intention, but it is unsustainable! We have one of the most generous European scholarship systems, without being one of the world’s economic forces or we have a clear impact on the entire current scholarship system ”, the minister said.
The changes that will be operated refer to the preservation of only two categories of scholarships: “Social scholarships, to ensure inclusion (will also be kept for minor mothers), respectively merit scholarships, which will be up to 15% of a class, provided a minimum note of 9“Minister Daniel David also mentions that the winners will be increased after the reorganization of the Olympics / competitions.
The rights cuts are seen with critical eyes by parents. Zeno Sustac, the initiator of the Facebook group “Parents of the Students in Romania”, harshly charges the minister, considering that the announced measures are cut, practically, 60-70% of the number of beneficiaries of scholarships.
“David’s sinister, hurriedly translated into “thief” of Copilești scholarships, reduces by 60-70% the number of students who will benefit from the merit scholarship! Where does the percentage? From the rural, there does not rain with grades of 10. In the large urban the reduction will be “only” 50% (the percentage of maximum 30% of the total class is replaced with the percentage of 15%, the minimum grant being 9) “says Sustac.
“I am revolted and frightened, like many parents of pre -university students. The perfidy, myccess and hypocrisy of Minister David are now in sight. The great “reformer” turns out to be a simple political tool, a smiling mackerel with which the students will be “comforted” indefinitely. Education seemed to be about students and teaching. After cutting the wings of the studious children, what is cut? Is the holiday, is it too long? The breaks between the hours became disturbing too? Does the allowances follow? Yes, those bitter. What is cut for a better screw in the ministerial chair? Sandwich, bank, childhood? That the love of the book … has resolved! ”, writes the father.
Zeno Sustac also says that “There will be cases in which exceptional children with 9.80 or 9.90 will not take a merit scholarship because … David.” It is about children who learn from morning to evening, serious children, motivated, impeccable, adds the parent. “They will understand as a child that they are not appreciated in Romania, the country where the privileges remain, but the scholarships are cut. They will feel – with children’s souls! – that they are committed to an injustice. An additional impetus for good children and their families to look at other countries. Pardon, countries! Here they “steal” even from children. As we say to us, it is stolen with “rationality and decency”!
Le: Continuous nonsense, scholarships for the Olympians will also be eliminated! ”, The father ends his message.
The granting of the scholarships aroused fierce discussions in the autumn of 2023, when by the order of the Minister of Education of September 8, 2023, the possibility of 30% of a class to benefit from school scholarships, without being conditioned by the average. It was thus reached that students who were admitted to high school with 2 and 3 averages to become beneficiaries, the measure arousing revolt.
The provisions were modified in the next school year, so that in the school year recently the scholarships were granted according to new rules.
