Romania benefits from the full support of France to enter the Schengen area as quickly as possible and with the land borders, said the French ambassador in Bucharest, Nicolas Warnery, at the recent National Day of his country, according to Agerpres.

The diplomat spoke about last month’s European elections and the opening of accession negotiations for Ukraine and the Republic of Moldova to the European Union. He emphasized that this year is an important one for Europe.

“With these accession negotiations begins a new chapter in the history of the Union, which we will write together. The next Summits of the European Political Community in the United Kingdom and in Hungary will also allow us to move forward, in a format wider than that of the European Union (EU), in defense of our common values. Regarding the continuation of the consolidation of Europe”.Warnery pointed out.

The French ambassador added that 2024 is also a key year in terms of Romania’s accession to the OECD and that “Romania can count on the full support of France”.

He recalled that at the end of this month, France will host the Olympic Games and that his country wanted this event to mark progress in terms of gender equality. For the first time in history, an equal number of sportsmen and women will participate.

“I warmly thank the Romanian Olympic and Sports Committee, as well as the Romanian champions who worked with us in the last months, for the preparation of the Games and for the promotion of Olympic values. I also thank the Romanian Government for sending a group of police and gendarmes to help the smooth running of this event. I wish good luck to all the Romanian athletes who will go to Paris in a few days.”the French ambassador pointed out.
