En-titre world champion in the sport in which the current president of the FRF, Răzvan Burleanu, made his “run-in” as a manager, our national team lost on Saturday evening, dramatically, the European Mini-Football held in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Romania, 6 times European champion
The Serbians led at halftime with 1-0, for the Romanians to equalize in the second half, in the 36th minute, through Balea, who executed a free kick on foot. The same scenario as in the semi-final with Kazakhstan, only this time it was the opponents who were happy at the end. After Marius Balogh missed in the first set and the Serbs in the second, all players scored until the score reached 9-9. The ex-Yugoslavs scored for 10-9, but Iulian Sîplăcan wasted the tiebreaker by sending it wide. Thus, Romania has to be satisfied only with the title of European vice-champion, for the third time in a row.
Following the failure, Romania missed the chance to win the seventh trophy in history at the European Championship, where it was crowned champion in 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014 and 2015.
