Dennis Man (23) scored the goal for the tricolors, after the guests opened the scoring through Jamie Reid (7), in the first training match of the team coached by Edward Iordănescu for EURO 2024.
The compact disposition of the Northern Irish made it difficult for the Romanian team in the first half, so apart from the goal there were not many notable opportunities.
The guests scored first (7), at the end of a quick counterattack, started by Conor Bradley, the Liverpool player, continued by Thompson and completed by the debutant Jamie Reid, left alone with the Niţă goalkeeper.
Romania equalized in min. 23, when Răzvan Marin sent a long ball, received by Dennis Man, who hooked the guest defense and beat goalkeeper Hazard with a shot from the box.
Man had a similar action (38), but his shot hit teammate George Puşcaş.
Towards the end of the first half, another long ball found defender Mogoş (45+2) in the box, but he was blocked at the moment of the shot.
The second half was better for the Romanian national team, which opened the game in several lines, without being able to score.
Răzvan Marin challenged the goalkeeper Bailey Peacock-Farrell with a shot from about 25 meters (48), but the goalkeeper was on the post.
Stanciu volleyed from 17 meters, after a corner, but the ball flew far over the goal (52).
Cicâldău (55) also shot, from 18 meters, but the ball was deflected by a defender.
Towards the end of the game, the guests had a few good minutes, in which they tried to endanger Niţă's goal. Captain McNair (79) shot from 18 meters, but Niţă was on the post. Price (83) shot at the goal, but the shot hit Sorescu's block.
Ianis Hagi, who brought a ray of light to the game of the Romanian team, tried his luck from almost 30 meters, but shot in the direction of the goalkeeper, who stopped without emotion.
Romania did not play a very good game, suffering especially on the left flank, in front of a young, fast and disciplined team, in the process of reconstruction.
Romania was left with only two wins in nine matches against Northern Ireland.
The national team can get revenge in their next test, Tuesday's friendly match against Colombia, which will take place at Civitas Metropolitano in Madrid.
They scored: Dennis Man (23) and Jamie Reid (7) respectively.
