Romania is among the states with the lowest level of crime, offering a more favorable situation from this point of view than many Western European countries. According to the reports of the US State Department and the European Commission, Romania is recognized as a very safe country for citizens and tourists.

In recent years, Romania has recorded figures below the European and international average for crimes such as robberies, thefts and other acts committed with violence.

“All these data are a recognition of the efforts made by the employees of the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MAI) – policemen, gendarmes, border guards and firefighters – who carry out their missions with professionalism every day. We underline the fact that the MAI structures collaborate with the other government institutions with public order and national security attributions alongside which they acted promptly and in an integrated system. At the same time, in order to achieve these objectives, the Ministry of Internal Affairs has developed a very good collaboration with international partners, especially with institutions from the European Union states, with the structures of the European Commission and the USA, a strategic partner“, the Ministry of Internal Affairs said in a statement on Friday.
