Romania will be promoted internationally in a tour organized by the British producer Charlie Ottley, in partnership with the Ministry of Economy, Digitalization, Entrepreneurship and Tourism. The series of events starts on Thursday and will reach several capitals in Asia, Latin America and Europe.
The tour includes special screenings of the Flavors of Romania documentary, currently available on Netflix Romania. The events will take place in Thailand, Malaysia, Chile, Peru, Colombia and the United Kingdom, with the aim of presenting Romania’s natural beauty, cultural heritage and gastronomic diversity.
The Ministry of Economy specifies, in a press release quoted by Agerpres, that the target audience consists of government representatives, opinion leaders, journalists and travel agencies, in an attempt to strengthen Romania’s image as a tourist destination.
The screenings will include a film of approximately 75 minutes, with selections from seasons 2 and 3 of the series, dedicated to the nine historical regions of the country. The events are organized in collaboration with the Romanian embassies in the host states.
Meetings with the public and gastronomic promotion. “Romania has stories that deserve to be told to the world”
Each screening will be followed by a question and answer session with Charlie Ottley and Oana Mihai, as well as networking moments and tastings inspired by Romanian cuisine.
The Minister of Economy, Irineu Darău, states that the project represents an opportunity to present Romania beyond the clichés that persist abroad.
“Romania has authentic stories that deserve to be told to the world, and Charlie Ottley tells them with respect, depth and passion. We thank him for his constant contribution to the promotion of Romania and for this effort that shows our tourist, cultural and gastronomic potential on the international stage. Romania has everything it needs to be a top tourist destination. It is essential to show the world our true value and to increase Romania’s attractiveness as a destination. Charlie Ottley: “There are still too many misconceptions about Romania”
The British producer, known for his documentaries dedicated to Romania, says that the tour aims to bring the country in front of an audience that knows little about it.
“Oana and I had planned this trip anyway to see friends and family again, but, following discussions with the Ministry of Economy, Digitization, Entrepreneurship and Tourism, we decided to organize screenings in all the capitals we are going to visit. I hope that this approach will give us the opportunity to show the attractiveness of Romania to the international public, stimulate tourism and encourage a closer collaboration. There are still too many wrong perceptions about Romania, and the only way to overcome them is to be present, to go out into the world and show people what an extraordinary country we haveOttley said.
We remind you that the British journalist and producer Charlie Ottley, known for the documentaries that put Romania on the world tourism map, took the oath of allegiance to our country, thus becoming, officially, a Romanian citizen.
