Romania defeated the team of Montenegro with emotions, with a score of 2-1, on Friday evening, at the Arc de Triomphe Stadium in the Capital, at the debut in group A of the European Under-19 football championship, hosted by our country.

The guests managed to open the score contrary to the game, through Vuk Vlahovic (13), but Romania returned the score in the last half hour, thanks to the goals scored by Emanuel Marincău (63) and David Barbu (90+1). The players trained by Ion Marin categorically dominated the game, having a net possession, 22-4 at the gate (8-1 per gate), 9-3 at the corners, but went through great emotions after Perovic (90+6) resumed to the gate at a corner, but Fălcușan rejected Providentially in front of the gate.
In the other match of the group from Euro 2025 U19, Spain, the European champion in Titre, passed the Denmark team with a score of 1-0, on the Giulești stadium, through the goal of Izan Merino (45). The Iberians, who hold 9 European titles in this age category, will be the next opponents of the tricolors.
Spain and Denmark, the following opponents
At the European Football Championship U19, hosted by Romania on June 13-26, the tricolor selected in Group A, together with Montenegro (2-1), Spain (June 16) and Denmark (June 19). In Group B of the competition that will be hosted by stadiums in Bucharest (Giulești and Arc de Triomphe), Voluntari (Anghel Iordănescu) and Ploiești (Ilie Oană) will play the teams of Germany, Norway, England and the Netherlands. The first two ranked in each group will qualify in the semifinals.
The Romanian team qualified directly at the final tournament. The tricolors had not participated in a final U19 tournament in 2022, when they lost all three matches. Romania once more hosted the European, in 2011, when he ended the last place, with an equal (0-0 with Ireland) and two defeats (1-3 with the Czech Republic, the future finalist, and 0-1 with Greece). The title was then conquered by Spain. Initially, our country had to host the final tournament in 2021, but the competition was canceled due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
