The Romanian women's national handball team emotionally defeated the Croatian team, with a score of 25-23 (11-11), on Sunday evening, in Koprivnica, in a Group 1 match of the European Championship – EHF EURO 2024 preliminaries.

The tricolors scored two goals in the last minute and snatched the victory, after being led for most of the time. Romania qualified from first place to the final tournament with this success, writes Agerpres.
In the 53rd minute, Croatia was leading with a score of 23-19, but did not score another goal until the end, instead conceding six.
For Romania, Sonia Seraficeanu scored 6 goals, Corina Lupei 5, Bianca Bazaliu 3, Cristina Laslo 2, Andreea Cristina Popa 2, Ştefania Stoica 2, Lorena Ostase 2, Mihaela Andreea Mihai 1, Ana Ciolan 1, Alicia Gogîrlă 1.
Daciana Hosu had 11 interventions (33.33%), and Bianca Curment managed 5 (83.33%).
The hosts' goals were scored by Andrea Simara 6, Kristina Prkacin 3, Josipa Mamic 3, Paula Posavec (CS Gloria 2018 Bistriţa-Năsăud) 2, Camila Micijevic (who will play at SCM Craiova from the summer) 2, Katarina Jezic (Danurea Brăila) 2, Klara Birtic 2, Sara Senvald 1, Stela Posavec 1, Dejana Milosavljevic (SCM Craiova) 1.
Tea Pijevic (Gloria Buzău) defended 12 shots (37.50%), and Ivana Kapitanovic (CS Rapid Bucharest) 2 (28.57%).
The match was refereed by the Bulgarians Gheorghi Doicinov and Iulian Goreţov, and the EHF delegate was the Slovakian Zuzana Fuleova.
In the other match of the group, Greece beat Bosnia-Herzegovina 27-23.
Romania takes first place, with 8 points, followed by Croatia, 4 points, Greece, 4 points, Bosnia-Herzegovina, 0 points.
In the last matches, from April, Romania will play Bosnia-Herzegovina away and Greece at home.
The first two teams in each group qualify for the final tournament, as well as the four best third-placed teams.
