The Romanian actress Katia Pascariu received the Boccalino D’Oro prize on Friday night for the best actress at the International Film Festival in Locarno, for her performance in the movie Sorella di Clausura, directed by Ivana Mladenović and produced by Microfilm.

The prize is awarded by the jury of independent critics and praises the “interpretive veracity and the ability to illuminate the film with humor and authenticity.”
The film tells the story of the Star, a young woman from a Timisoara village, who dreams to meet a Balkan singer, exploring topics such as the search for happiness and the imperative of success. Sorella di Clausura had the official premiere on August 13 in Locarno and will continue the festival in Sarajevo, according to Mediafax.
“Any recognition of work comes as a reward, but not all rewards are equal. I am truly happy and honored by it and I accept it with an open heart and on behalf of our whole team. An honest and intense work that I was fortunate to observe and admire me and which kept me in a state of total pleasure, hypervigile and responsibility.” said Katia Pascariu, according to a statement from the producing company.
Katia Pascariu is also known for the collaborations with Radu Jude (Babardeală with bloom or porn Balamuc) and Eugen Jebeleanu (interior zero).
Graduate UNATC Bucharest and the master in anthropology and development, the actress is the founder of the Center of Community Art Age 4 and of the Association of Human Rights.
The film is a co -production Romania – Serbia -Stitalia – Spania, with the support of the National Center for Cinematography, the Romanian Cultural Institute and the international partners.
