Sabrina Voinea can recover the bronze that was unjustly taken from her: the precedent that gives us hope

Romania mobilized in an attempt to “repair” the injustice done to Sabrina Voinea in the Olympic floor final. Prime Minister Marcel Ciolacu will boycott the closing ceremony of the Games, and COSR, FRG and ANS requested and obtained a reanalysis of the case. And we have reasons for optimism.

Sabrina Voinea, waiting for a favorable decision after a great injustice. CAPTURE TVR

Eurosport recalled a happy precedent that proves to us that, regardless of when the verdict is announced, there are chances that Sabrina Voinea will receive the bronze “stealing“.

At the previous edition of the Winter Games, hosted in 2022 by Beijing, there was a remarkable case in skiing. Here, Switzerland’s Fanny Smith was stripped of her bronze after race marshals deemed her to have obstructed her rival, Daniela Maier (Germany). Smith appealed this decision, went to the CAS and subsequently, after 9 days, came into possession of the lost bronze. It should be noted that two bronze medals were actually awarded. One for the German Daniela Maier, after the race in which Fanny Smith was penalized and relegated to 4th, and another for the athlete from Switzerland, after the favorable decision received at TAS.
