The director of the National Sports Complex Arc de Triomphe, Radu Popa, announced yesterday that he signed an association contract with Mr. Bit, a gambling operator, after which the arena will bear his name. If in the case of the rapid stadium there were no problems when it was associated with an online casino, now the situation has degenerated into a scandal.

At the hearing of the news, the head of the National Sport Agency, Bogdan Matei, caught fire: “It’s illegal! This although the logo of the online casino has already been mounted, both inside the arena and on the outside, the stadium next to the triumphal arch will be housed on Monday and the first match under the new name: Dinamo – FC Botosani.
On the Facebook page of the ANS director appeared today and official position, it is announced that the partnership between CSN Arc de Triomphe and the gambling operator has not been approved and that it contravenes the fundamental values of the Romanian sport. As a parenthesis, it was said, last season of Superliga, the only team that did not have as main sponsor a betting company – Sepsi.
ANS was not informed about partnership
“The National Sport Agency expresses its deep concern and disapproval of the initiative of the National Sports Complex” Arc de Triomp “to conclude a partnership that the agency has not been informed in advance.
We specify firmly: the National Sport Agency has not been consulted, did not approve and do not approve this collaboration. Any form of association between a public sports institution and a natural or legal person is unacceptable insofar as it contravenes the fundamental values of Romanian sport: integrity, responsibility, education and fair play.

It is important to emphasize that CSN Arc de Triomphe is not a self -employed institution, but an entity subordinated to the National Sport Agency, benefiting from budget and functional support. In this context, in order to validate such a partnership it was compulsory to request and obtain the opinion of the guardianship forum, respectively of the National Sport Agency.
Mr. Radu Popa does not have the mandate, authority or legal framework to conclude, on behalf of an institution of the Romanian state, such an agreement. It is regrettable that such a decision was made unilaterally and without any prior consultation with the coordinating institution.
Next week the control body will be present at the Arc de Triomphe Stadium, because it is not the only problem with the renaming. There, from our point of view, there are many more deficiencies that we have analyzed lately – Bogdan Matei, for golazo.ro
The National Agency for Sport supports and appreciates any initiative, collaboration or partnership – both at the individual level and at the level of subordinate structures – as long as they respect the letter, sport values and institutional ethics standards.
The agency is categorically delimited by this partnership and will send the control body to CSN the Arc de Triomphe to analyze the circumstances in which the agreement was concluded and to order the administrative and legal measures that are required.
ANS does not tolerate such collaborations
The president of the National Sport Agency, Bogdan Constantin Matei, said: “I firmly condemn this association and I am deeply saddened that I have not even been consulted. It is a decision that does not reflect the values of Romanian sport, nor the direction in which we want to build a culture of performance and responsibility in the field of sport. The National Agency for Sport does not support, does not promote and will not tolerate collaboration with individuals or legal persons. Education, discipline and models worth following – not about compromises and commercial interests that weaken the credibility of institutions and sports people ”.
The National Sport Agency reaffirms its firm commitment to defend the integrity of Romanian sport and to sanction any form of skid that violates the legal, moral and institutional principles that we promote. ”
Most likely, the director of the Arena Arc de Triomphe will be replaced. “From my point of view, I think that, with such management, the Romanian sport cannot continue”, concluded Bogdan Matei, the head of ANS.
