The Romanian community in England mobilized to find Beatrice, 14 years old, a Romanian child missing in London from her home on Saturday. At the same time, the Police opened an investigation in this case.
“Our beloved young volunteer Beatrice, fondly known as Betty, has gone missing from Wembley, UK.
She was last seen on 19/10/2924 in the Wembley area. He is approximately 1.55m tall, slim build, short brown hair, brown eyes. Last seen wearing a white sweater with a black square with writing, black sweatpants with gray stripes down the side, and black sneakers. She’s not wearing her glasses. We are very worried about her!” – this is what the announcement published in the My Romanian Community group in Great Britain sounds like.
The announcement states that “Beatrice is a wonderful young woman, very active in community activities, always incredibly helpful. Many of you may know her from our community activities, community concerts and literary events, as well as community outreach.”
Those who see her are asked to contact the Police on 999 with file number 01/981872/24.
“We urge everyone to share this as widely as possible! Beatrice if you see this please go to the nearest police station!“, the announcement also states.
Serious allegations against the guardian. What the authorities say
The girl and her mother lived in the same house as the director of the Non-Profit Organization “My Romania Community”, from Great Britain, Cristian Stîncanu, an influential member of the Romanian community in England.
Stîncanu would have helped the mother and her daughter, 8 years ago when they were in a difficult situation. The two moved into the same apartment with him. Cristian Stîcanu also became the girl’s guardian.
Beatrice’s grandmother launched, according to the media, serious accusations against Stîcanu in relation to the missing minor.
The woman stated that the girl ran away from home because of her guardian. “My niece is not kidnapped, she ran away from home. Who knows what he was doing to the child? I felt he was a monster posing as a good man. Because of him, my girl doesn’t talk to me anymore. He says he just wants to help her, but they’re actually together. The girl’s father is Italian, but he was in prison when the girl was born. His name doesn’t even appear on the birth certificate. He has another family. I raised my niece from one year to 6 years. Stîncanu put it into my daughter’s head that if he is not the guardian, the niece cannot go to university there“, claims the girl’s grandmother.
A close relative of the missing girl’s mother says that the teenager was regularly subjected to mental abuse and forced to work at the association owned by Cristian Stîncanu.
“He has a Romanian community, where the children are taken when the parents are at work. Beatrice took care of the children there for a year, changing their clothes when they defecated. That child couldn’t take it anymore. She ran away from home because they wanted to forcibly cut her hair”the woman added.
“Adevărul” talked to two important members of the Romanian community in Great Britain, who accuse Stîcanu of abuses.
One of them witnessed an event where she says that the two, mother and daughter, were humiliated by Stîcanu. “He said to them: “I put food on your table, thanks to me you live and have something to wear”.“
Another member of the Romanian community in London who is helping with the search says she has heard bad things about the relationship between Stîcanu and the two women. It shows that several women, including his ex-wife, have made complaints against him for various abuses. “There are older and newer complaints. Some are now being investigated“, said the woman.
“Adevărul” got in touch with the MAI attaché in London, Andreea Ciobanu, who stated that she could not give any details about the accusations against the director of the NGO “My Romania Community” on the grounds that “we cannot provide details regarding an ongoing investigation.”
What Cristian Stîcanu says
Cristian Stîncanu, Director of the Non-Profit Organization “My Romania Community” claims that he did not emotionally abuse Beatrice.
“These people say crazy things. I have a lot of courses, professional training and certification in working with children. I raised my daughter by myself since she was six months old, and now she has two master’s degrees. The grandmother has not had any relationship with the girl and the mother for over ten years. I have a professional relationship with the girl’s mother. My daughter and I are referred to everywhere as a «second contact», as a guardian. Otherwise, the system works here, it is not like in Romania. Beatrice is a child with exceptional results who has had her trips paid for. Children see each other if they are sad. We offered support to the girl’s mother”said, for CanCan, Cristian Stîcanu.
Cristian Stîcanu does not believe in the version that Beatrice ran away from home.
“The kid has never done anything like this before. It can be kidnappings, threats. We are struggling to find it”added the director of “My Romania Community”.
What the girl’s mother says: “they are fake stories”
“Truth” also got in touch with Aurelia, Beatrice’s mother.
“I am in contact with the police and have been asked not to make public statements or give more information than they have published everywhere. That’s all I’m allowed to give. Searches are underway. We did not find it, we are in the process of searching” said the woman.
Aurelia stated that she is walking the street with teams of volunteers to look for Beatrice. “We are putting leaflets on the streets, I hope to find her soon. It is even watched on video cameras. So people help me, people help me look for her. I cannot give you more information than the police have allowed me to. After she is found, I will do a live interview“, said the woman.
Regarding the accusations brought against Cristian Stîcanu, she says: “They are all stories. They are people’s opinions, they are fake stories. There are many people who may not approve of other people and that is none of my business. I did what I knew how to do professionally as well as voluntarily. I have nothing to do with anyone, I have not made friends with anyone”.
Asked if she was mentally or physically assaulted by Stîncanu, she said: “You will hear the truth from my mouth, then, after Beatrice is found. Now, my only priority is to find her. I am in contact with the police and we are looking for her. And there are people who help me look for it. I invited anyone who wanted to help me look for her to join me.“
