The Ministry of Education has published the approved structure and calendar for the 2024-2025 school year. Thus, this year the students will start school on September 9, 2024 and will finish the courses on June 20, 2025.

According to the document approved by the Ministry of Education, from an administrative point of view, the school starts on September 1, 2024 and ends on August 31, 2025, but the actual courses, which last 36 weeks, will start on September 9, 2024 .
As last year, the structure of the 2024-2025 school year is organized by modules and course intervals. Thus, there will be 5 modules, separated by 5 vacations, which will end on June 20, 2025, when the summer vacation will officially begin. The mobile vacation (also called the ski vacation) will be established later and will have a different structure in some places, with differences in duration between modules 3 and 4.
“Each educational unit communicates to the primary beneficiaries of education and their parents/legal representatives, by April 1, 2024, the detailed structure of the school year, including decisions for its flexible elements”, it is mentioned in the order published in the Official Gazette.
Exceptions
There will also be some exceptions to this structure, namely:
– For the 12th day, 13th evening and reduced frequency classes, the school year will have a duration of 34 weeks of classes and will end on June 6, 2025.
– For the 8th grade, the school year will have a duration of 35 weeks of classes and will end on June 13, 2025.
– For classes in high school education, the technological branch, with the exception of terminal classes, but also for classes in professional education, the school year will have a duration of 37 weeks of classes and will end on June 27, 2025.

– Module I starts on September 9, 2024, until Friday, October 25, 2024;
– Module II starts on November 4, 2024, until Friday, December 20, 2024;
– Module III starts on January 8, 2025, until Friday, February 7, 2025, respectively Friday, February 14, 2025, or Friday, February 21, 2025, as the case may be, at the decision of the county/municipality school inspectorates, following consultations with the primary beneficiaries of of education, with their parents/legal representatives and teachers, carried out at the level of educational units;
– Module IV starts on February 17, 2025, respectively Monday, February 24, 2025, or Monday, March 3, 2025, at the decision of the county school inspectorates/of the Bucharest municipality, as the case may be, until Thursday, April 17, 2025;
– Module V starts on April 28, 2025, until Friday, June 20, 2025.
vacations
– Christmas vacation: December 21, 2024- January 7, 2025;
– Ski holiday: one week, at the decision of the county school inspectorates/Bucharest municipality, between February 10 and March 2, 2025;
– Easter vacation: April 18 – April 27, 2025;
– Summer vacation: June 21, 2025 – September 7, 2025.
“Different School” and “Green Week”
The national programs “Different School” and “Green Week” are held between September 9, 2024 and May 30, 2025, in intervals of 5 consecutive working days, their choice remaining at the decision of the educational unit. The running of the two programs is planned in different course intervals, according to the relevant ministry’s order.
In the classes of high school education – the technological branch and vocational education, during the periods dedicated to the programs “Different School” and “Green Week”, practical training activities are organized, also following the purpose of these programs. In post-secondary education classes, during the periods dedicated to the “Different School” and “Green Week” programs, practical training activities are organized.
