Selly met with General Christopher Donahue, Commander of the United States Ground Forces and the Romanian Minister of Defense, Ionuț Moșteanu

On Thanksgiving Day, Andrei Șelaru (Selly) was invited to an event organized by the American armed forces stationed in Romania, in Base 57 “Mihail Kogălniceanu”.

Next to him were General Christopher Donahue, commander of the United States Ground Forces in Europe and Africa, and the Romanian Minister of Defense, Ionuț Moșteanu — present in turn to mark this celebration with the American military.

The atmosphere was warm and friendly, far from the rigidity of an official visit. Selly spent a few hours in the base, talked to the American soldiers, witnessed the demonstrations prepared for the guests and discovered what a day in the life of the troops serving in Romania looks like.

“It was a very interesting and honorable experience for me. I had the opportunity to speak directly with the American military and to better understand what their mission looks like in Romania. I value the relationship between our countries and I believe that such meetings help to build a real connection, beyond protocols,” said Selly (Andrei Șelaru).

The event was part of an annual tradition in which the US military celebrates Thanksgiving with allies and local communities. Selly’s participation brought an authentic and informal touch, bringing the young generation closer to the reality of American soldiers in Romania.
