The grades of the students in the Romanian language within the simulation exam of the 2025 baccalaureate were, somewhat, at extremes: the children took either high grades, over 8 or small notes, under 7. “The students who took 8 or higher grades even gave their interest, even learned for this simulation. These children differentiated from the others by being punctuated on the third topic, in the essay.” He explained for “Adevărul” Ruxandra Achim, a Romanian language and literature teacher within the National College “Ilcaragiale” in Bucharest.
At the simulation in Romanian only 45 students took maximum marks. Archive
The teacher confessed to us that from a class of 31 students, as far as he currently has, almost 30% have taken grades over 9. “My students took high grades, 9.7, 9.4, 9.5. But we are talking about a high school with renowned and very good children. What I was very pleased to have been the fact that the notes that my students took on simulation are exactly the notes they took in the tests sustained in the classroom, until now. They are almost identical. “
On the other hand, those who prepared only for the first topics were punctuated with grades below 7. “Who did not learn for subject three started from the beginning of note 7. They lost three points in a fire. And this is because they did not write anything on this subject, or they wrote totally. In my class I also had weaker notes. For example, a student took note 5. But, fortunately, no one took note four. ”
The teacher confessed to us that many students wanted to test their knowledge only at the first two topics. “Let me see what note I get if I only learn for the first two topics. This was the reasoning. This, in the idea that they will have time to recover the matter until the summer. ”
However, what many students have ignored is the fact that this year the baccalaureate is given earlier in June. “The time for recovery would be at the limit.”
The topics, on the other hand, were not heavy. “I evaluate them at an average level of difficulty“. In general, this is how they give: accessible to all students, regardless of the high school they learn or profile, whether they live in urban or rural.”The structure of the first subject is based on understanding a text. You should not know anything but understand the given text and respond correctly to the requirements. But, indeed, you must know the Romanian language, you must know how to write correctly and express yourself ”.
The students also received an argumentative text evaluated with two points. “And there everything is about logic and expression. Basically, you do not have to learn something, something special to tick this score.”
Students do not know how to express themselves. Communicates only through words and signs.
Almost 16% of the students who participated in the simulation of the 2025 baccalaureate exam took grades of 8 and over 8 in Romanian language and literature. Of the over 100,000 young participants, only 45 of them took note 10. At the opposite pole, 33% of the students did not take note 5, according to the results published by the Ministry of Education. That means a decrease of 8% compared to 2024. “Because it is expressed as Tiktok. But these children do not answer the questions through statements in everyday life. They communicate through words and emoticons. The fact that he looks at Tiktok where I see only some exclamations and words, that will clearly not help him ”, the teacher said.
The teacher considers that the main enemy in the intellectual development of the students is the fragmentation of the discourse, a discourse that seems more and more superficial. “Such as Tiktok, for example. From there they are drawn. There is no difference between the man’s man and the man who communicates through emoticons. And the man of the caverns also put a glove to stop the passage. Nowadays we are exactly at that point. Ten thousand years of civilization took us to the starting point ”.
On the other hand, the student will never learn 100% of what is taught in the classroom, from what he receives from the teacher. “Therefore, the less we offer them, the less they will learn. I do not say that matter has become more and more easy, more accessible. It is normal for students to be less and more prepared. “ And this low level of knowledge, the lack of judgment, of logical thinking, functional and mathematical illiteracy, all of which are rolled from the primary classes. “The word of Titu Maiorescu: «We gently encourage mediocrities»”.
“Only now will they be seriously learned”
The teacher told us that if he were the parent of a child in this generation, he would ask serious question marks, he would be alarmed for his intellectual training. The increasingly advanced technique, the speed with which the information, the latest technology, the Internet, the artificial intelligence, the social networks, all these “adaptations” and “modernization” come to the package and with negative effects, considers Prof. Ruxandra Achim.
“Unfortunately, we have a trend of transformation into a superficial reality of everything that means teaching. We are alone prey to this artificial intelligence that we allow to think for us. It’s like I would, for example, be counting or the abacus to do all the calculations for me. After all, they are just some tools. My head has to help me work completely independently. Critical thinking means to accumulate information. It’s not enough to say “it’s good”, “it’s not good”. Not. To say that, you have to have the ability to argue and exemplify some things. Or, in reality, many students do not have information with which they can operate. ”
Professor Ruxandra Achim hopes that the children will achieve better results. “Those who have not learned for the third subject I hope to do until the summer. Time would be. Important is to want to recover”.
And Ionela Neagoe, the director of the National College “Gheorghe Lazăr” in Bucharest, said that the results from the simulation, in general, are weaker than those from the actual exam. According to the teacher, the students only now will be very serious to learn. “The results from the simulation, normally, are weaker than those at the exam, because they are only very serious to learn.”
