The simulation examination of the national assessment is approaching, and the eighth-grade students are already living the first emotions. Even if we talk about two tests whose notes do not influence the academic course of children, even if the exam is just an exercise, a training for what follows in the summer, absenteeism existed every year. The reasons? The feeling of children are not well -trained enough, the very strong emotions, but also the ignorance, the lack of interest of the parents but also of certain teachers. One by one, on March 17, the students are expected in banks to prove their knowledge in Romanian language and literature. “And it would be good to come, because it is only in their interest,” He told “Adevărul” Ruxandra Achim, a Romanian language and literature teacher at the National College “Ilcaragiale” in Bucharest.
Why should the students participate in the highest number in the simulation of the national assessment and how to convince them to come to test their knowledge? The answer is simple: they need a landmark to relate to their preparation for the actual exam, which awaits them in the summer.
“Need to test their level like a athlete participating in a large-scale contest. We are talking about a test that will draw their attention to certain aspects regarding their preparation ”explains Professor Ruxandra Achim.
“Then it is useful to participate to verify, in addition to the level of acquired knowledge, the so-called administrative aspects: to what extent they fall during the time allocated, what topics require a longer time to solve, how long they need to elaborate certain answers, how to write the work, how to write their name, etc.”. After all, we are talking about a general training for the big summer exam and which should not take the children by surprise.
There are students, continues the teacher, who do not feel very well prepared and, for this reason, refuses to present themselves. They are governed by fear, they are afraid of failure.
For these unassuming children, who do not want to face the truth, the teacher has a tip: “If you do not feel well prepared, the more you should support this simulation. It helps enormously, being a way to take the pulse of the moment. “ The child and parents should know what the current level of training is and, depending on this aspect, try to solve their gaps, hits. “You may not know certain formulations, how to write an answer, they may have problems with understanding the texts, applying the notions of grammar”. This exam is a landmark that comes with a diagnosis of the level of training, the true one, not the one noted in the notebook. Because a child with 10 in the catalog can be in reality of note 7 or even below.

The exam should not be regarded as a bau-bau
There are also children who do not necessarily come up with the fear of a failure but, rather, because of the very strong negative emotions that try them. “However, this experience will teach them how to master their emotions on the summer exam. Emotions that can make the difference between a small and a big note ”, says the teacher. The simulation of national assessment is an exercise in which children learn what self -control and self -control means. You learn, somehow, to gather, to focus, you catch a haze of experience that will help you in the actual exam. “Therefore, not only the notes matter, but the whole process that the students go through”, mentions the teacher.
Once accommodated with the requirements of this exam, children will no longer feel such a strong emotional load. “Obviously, they must be supported and encouraged by the family, but also by teachers. And one more aspect: this national exam should not be viewed as a bau-bau. For the world does not end if you take a small note. The school, after all, is mandatory until 12th grade. Therefore, a small note does not take you out of the school system. It is not something of life and death, it is not a definitive experience ”, the teacher concluded.
Psychologist: “The father has a crucial role in developing the emotional intelligence of the child”
Managing emotions in the face of an exam is a real challenge for both teenagers and their families, the psychologist Radu Leca said for the “truth”. These emotions, in order to be managed correctly by children, must first of all be validated by parents.
If a child tells you that he is afraid of the exam, and you, as a parent, tell him that he has no concern, you make one of the biggest mistakes. You tell him, indirectly, what he feels is not true. “The parent must encourage the teenager to identify and accept his emotions. We need to understand what is happening emotionally with our child. Open communication is therefore important and mandatory ”, says the specialist.
The psychologist warns that, most of the times, the father is the one who builds a stable and comfortable environment, and his role in the emotional development of the child is crucial. If a child feels really valuable, he will express his thoughts and feelings freely. The father is the head of the family, he holds the so -called “power” in the family.
He is regarded by the child as the supreme authority, which is why the father should use this status. But in the good sense of the word. “The adolescent must be helped primarily by his father to understand his different emotions and reactions that appear behind them. In this way, it will develop its emotional intelligence. The parent should be given an example. The father must offer models of emotional management from his own life and his own universe ”, says Radu Leca.

Specialist: “The failure for the exam is not of the child, but of the parent”
When the child comes to you and tells you openly “I am afraid of the exam because I know that I will take grade four” you, at that moment, as a parent, continued the psychologist Radu Leca. “Because you were not able to support him and help him. That is why it is important that from the second in which this you say to give it help. To send it to meditationsfor example, to recover the matter. To contact the teachers, the leader, to ask for help from them. You will get it. And, most importantly, you will see how your child will begin to trust him, he will begin to believe that everything will be fine. I disappear, with time, fear, anxiety, anxiety, the exam is a scarecrow. ” The help received from the outside, from the family and teachers is, therefore, essential in the learning process, but also in the process of psychic and emotional development of children.
Little notes appear when parents disappear from children’s lives
When your child comes home with a small note taken for the exam, it takes a very simple thing, explains the psychologist we have to do, how we should act as parents in such a situation. “To return to the front door in his life. To find him the best meditators to help him and support him permanently in the learning process. Then, a free discussion about the child’s future is required. What do you want to do when you are big? Depending on the answer, you will know, as a parent, on which road you then straighten your child. If you do not know what dreams he has for the future, how to help him? ”
Last but not least, explains the specialist, while the lazy man angels from behind to recover the subject, the good children to teach, but emotional, should see a psychotherapist. Emotions are good, but only to a point, beyond which they become dangerous and toxic. “There is a limit that must be kept under control often by a specialist ”, says Radu Leca.
