American basketball player James Harden (36 years old), nicknamed “The Beard”, asks to leave the Los Angeles Clippers team, refusing to play in the last game of the NBA, the North American championship. He is the second name in world sport to go on strike, after footballer Cristiano Ronaldo, from Al Nassr. But the Portuguese had other reasons.
After being denied a contract extension, the 11-time All-Star Game defender is not playing this season for “personal reasons.”
Harden wants to transfer from Los Angeles to a team capable of winning the championship.
In last night’s game, the Clippers lost miserably at home to Philadelphia, and the quarterback was a no-show, according to coach Ty Lue.
The Clippers are considering replacing him with a younger player. The deadline for transfers is Thursday 5 February at 21:00.
