Students who will learn at a military high school will be able to choose the Russian language within the curriculum at the student’s decision on the school offer, according to the new framework plans put into public debate by the Ministry of Education, on January 31.

At the military profile, the mathematical – computer specialization, proposed as a study for the modern language 3, the Russian language, with one hour a week, according to edupedu.ro.

“The framework plans for the military profile were developed together with the colleagues who teach in the military colleges, in collaboration with the Ministry of National Defense, according to the specific needs clearly identified by them”stressed Bogdan Cristescu.

These framework plans will be applied in the form that will result after the debate, according to the statements of the management of the Ministry of Education and Research, from the school year 2026-2027. If so, the students who are now the 7th grade will be the first to have the schedule based on these new framework plans.

They will be the ones who, when they reach the end of the 12th grade, will support the first modified baccalaureate based on the current law of education.

The proposals for the military profile came from the Ministry of National Defense, said the Secretary of State in the Ministry of Education and Research, Bogdan Cristescu.

“Regarding the military profile, the framework plans for the military profile were developed together with colleagues who teach in military colleges, in collaboration with the Ministry of National Defense, according to the specific needs of them”said Bogdan Cristescu.

Currently, no other high school profile has a modern language 3 in the framework plans, the more Russian with a clear mention, but within the options there could be this foreign language, but depending on the demand.

Currently, only 2 modern languages ​​are provided for the Mate-Info military profile: modern language 1 and modern language 2 in classes IX-XII.

The modern language 3 is currently represented in the options, and among the learned languages ​​are: German, Spanish, Japanese, according to teachers consulted by Edrudu.ro.

Also, the theological profile is currently learned Greek or Latin, optional.

What does common trunk and specialized curriculum mean

The common trunk (50%), provided in the legislation, provides the basic competences (general culture) and contributes to the formation of key competences (including functional literacy). The share decreases from classes IX/x (65%) to grades XI/XII (35%). It represents fixed support for the general culture. Most disciplines/themes are related to the national baccalaureate exam (mandatory/of your choice). The common trunk includes 15 disciplines to each of the IX/X classes (to which, as the case may be, the maternal language and literature), distributed in all 7 curricular areas, respectively 9 disciplines in each of the 11th/XII classes (to which Add, as the case may be, the maternal language and literature), distributed in 5 curricular areas.

The specialized curriculum (35%), as an innovative development, provides the specialized, general and specific skills, specific to a profile and some professional specializations/qualifications, replacing the segment represented by the differentiated curriculum, present in the current framework plans in force, bringing also when forming key skills. Its weight increases from classes IX/x (25%) to grades XI/XII (45%). It is a semiflexible support for the specialized culture and includes two components: (1) the fixed component (between 77-100%, representing 8-13 hours) and (2) the flexible component (between 0-23%, representing 0-3 hours, which they can personalize the specialization); The percentages of 0% and 100% refer to the vocational and technological chains, where the specialized curriculum is fixed, once the chain/specialization is chosen.
