FCSB have taken the first step in the winter mercato and club officials have confirmed the transfer. Mihai Stoica confirmed that the Portuguese Andre Duarte, former central defender at FCU Craiova, will sign with the Romanian vice-champion.
FCSB’s squad suffered seriously in the first part of the season. Injuries in key positions and the poor form of some starters led to several failures both in the championship and in the European cups.

Mihai Stoica confirmed the transfer of Andre Duarte, live, the day after the defeat with Red Star Belgrade, also revealing the duration of the contract signed by the player.
This is the first major move of the runners-up this winter, aimed at strengthening the defense and bringing solutions for the central defender position.

Hungarians’ reaction after FCSB’s interest in Andre Duarte
Andre Duarte, transferred to Ujpest this summer, announced his intention to leave the Hungarian club, to the surprise of the officials.
The Hungarians learned about the Portuguese’s desire, but also about FCSB’s concrete interest, and noted that the footballer communicated his departure without the club’s consent.
“The Portuguese defender from Ujpest FC was dropped from the squad, then linked with FCSB and later announced on his Instagram page that he had left the club. Duarte announced his departure arbitrarily, which he did without mutual consent and the approval of the club”, wrote the journalists from Hungary.

Although Ujpest has yet to make the parting with the nearly 2m center back official, Andre Duarte has made his intentions known via social media.
The Portuguese posted a message in which he talks about his recent condition and the decision to close the chapter at the Hungarian club, preparing for the next stage of his career.
