Survey: Marcel Ciolacu, in first place in voting intentions in the presidential elections. Where is Mircea Geoana?

Prime Minister Marcel Ciolacu, the PSD president, is the favorite in voting intentions for this year’s presidential elections, with 25% of the votes, followed by the AUR leader, George Simion, with 19%, according to a Sociopol survey.

According to the latest Sociopol poll, published by the director of the institute, Mirel Palada, on his Facebook page, in the event of holding presidential elections next Sunday, the PSD leader, Prime Minister Marcel Ciolacu, would be the favorite in terms of voting intentions with 25% of the votes, followed by the leader of AUR, George Simion, with 19% and in third place by the Deputy General Secretary of NATO, Mircea Geoană, (polled as an independent candidate), with 15% of the votes.

Next on the list would be USR president Elena Lasconi (with 14%), PNL leader, Senate president Nicolae Ciucă (with 12%), SOS Romania leader, MEP Diana Şoşoacă (with 9%), former Minister of Justice and Foreign Affairs , Cristian Diaconescu, (polled as an independent candidate) – (with 5%) and the president of UDMR, Kelemen Hunor (with 1%).

Who enters the second round, alongside Marcel Ciolacu? At the moment, the first chance goes to George Simion, who is 4-5 percentage points away from the next ranked, Mircea Geoană and Elena Lasconi“, claims sociologist Mirel Palada.

Methodology

The survey is representative of the non-institutionalized adult population residing in Romania. Sample volume: 1,002 people. Data collection period: July 9 – 17, 2024. Data collection method: telephone interviews (CATI). The margin of error, at a 95% confidence level, is +/- 3.2%

According to the latest Inscop survey, commissioned by News.ro, published on July 4, NATO Deputy Secretary General Mircea Geoană led with a share of 26.7% in voting intentions in the presidential elections, followed by the PSD president, Prime Minister Marcel Ciolacu – 17.8%, USR leader Elena Lasconi – 14.3%, SOS Romania leader Diana Şoşoacă – 13.4%, PNL leader Nicolae Ciucă – 11.9% and AUR leader George Simion – 11.2% .
