Tennis madness: A player was tested for doping during the match

In the midst of discussions about doping in tennis, an incredible episode took place during the second day of the Next Gen ATP competition, currently underway in Jeddah (Saudi Arabia).

Jakub Mesnik

The Green Group match between Arthur Fils, 20, and ATP No. 20, and Jakub Mensik, 19, and ATP No. 48, saw an unprecedented event. In the break between the second and third sets, Mensik took advantage of the bathroom break to go to the bathroom.

However, it took the Czech a long time to get back on the pitch. Once he returned for the third set, the reason for the delay was revealed: he was tested for doping.

Unsatisfied, the 48th ATP player immediately explained what had happened to chair umpire Nacho Forcadell, who looked incredulous.

Then, still indignant, the Czech began the third set, losing it: the Frenchman finished victorious in 3 sets.

At this point, it remains to be seen whether Mensik’s anti-doping test was not carried out “by mistake” by experts, perhaps convinced that the match was already over.
