The Minister of Research and Digitization, Bogdan Ivan, announced, at a press conference at PSD Arad, that a contract will be signed for an application through which Romanians will have, by the end of the year, this tool at their disposal that will help them escape of counters and papers in the relationship with the state.
Bogdan Ivan, Minister of Research and Digitization
“At the moment we are preparing a radical change in the paradigm of public administration in Romania, because we are all tired of that application that must be submitted online at counter no. 3 from the second floor. Following the renegotiation of the government cloud and the cloud architecture, we are at the stage where the European Commission has given the green light to have this extremely important architecture and in March we will put the government cloud out for public auction. At the same time, next week we will sign the contract for the single application of the Romanian state, meaning a single place where we can have our identity documents or be able to pay some taxes. Simply put, let's bring the state to a click away for every Romanian”, explained Bogdan Ivan, according to News.ro.
He added that by the end of the year, “if everything goes according to schedule, we will have that unique application in which every Romanian will have their driving license and passport and study documents in digital format, to be associated with each person's bank card”.
At the same time, the social democrat stated that Romania is in the last place in the European Union in digitization in certain segments of public services.
“The government cloud, the data interoperability platform, the migration of services in a single application represent the unseen part of everything that the digital system architecture of the Romanian administration means. There are things that other states started 20 years ago, we started a year ago to make this transition. And I am equally frustrated when I see that in relation to many state authorities you have to go with the rail file and the paper format”, emphasized the PSD minister. The Minister of Research also said that digitization will take several years, again “the main brake is the mentality of those people who work with data, who work with papers in institutions”.
