In the last two months there have been three cases of West Nile infection on Romania, Jui 31 announces on Thursday, National Institute of Public Health (Insp). Of these, two cases were confirmed, and one is considered the case probably.

According to the health authorities, the cases were identified between June 2 and July 31, 2025, in Dolj, Vrancea and Sălaj counties, and patients are part of the age groups 60-69 (two persons) and over 80 years (one person), according to Agerpres.
In this context, inspiration draws attention to the risk of transmitting the West Nile virus through mosquito sting and makes a series of preventive recommendations for the population:
– Avoid exposure to mosquitoes, wearing long -sleeved clothing and long pants;
– use repellent substances against mosquitoes;
– Install window protection nets to prevent insect from entering the home;
– ensure the drawing of the water puddles near the household;
– Remove the containers with stacked water and household waste that can favor mosquito multiplication.
