Vienna launched its official candidacy on July 3 with the slogan “Europe, do we dance?” for the organization of the 2026 edition of the Eurovision.
The capital of Austria will host the competition at Wiener Stadthalle, the same location that hosted Eurovision 2015.
Wiener Stadthalle has a capacity of about 16,000 seats and no additional construction will be needed. Vienna also emphasizes its robust infrastructure, with over 80,000 hotel accommodation, an extended public transport system and an international airport that offers connections to over 65 countries, according to Mediafax.
The city invokes the success of Eurovision 2015 as a proof of its capacity, mentioning the 1.3 million occupied accommodations and the extremely positive feedback from the European Broadcasting Union, according to Eurovision World.
The Eurovision week will have three shows: Semifinal 1, Tuesday, Semifinal 2, Thursday, and the final, Saturday:
- Semifinal 1: 12 May 2026
- Semifinal 2: 14 May 2026
- Great Final: May 16, 2026
All three live shows will start at 9:00 pm Cest.
Romania is not among the participants
19 countries have expressed their interest in participating in the competition, which is subject to changes: Albania, Austria, Cyprus, Denmark, Finland, Germany, Greece, Israel, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Norway, Serbia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, United Kingdom.
Romania did not show its intention to participate in Eurovision 2026.
The television stations of UER member, on behalf of their countries, have a term until mid -October 2025 to officially submit the applications for participation in Eurovision 2026.
Tickets are usually put up for sale in December/January, so this time it is expected that tickets for Eurovision 2026 will be put up for sale at the end of 2025.
