Sergiu Manea, the CEO of the Romanian Commercial Bank (BCR), shows that Romania has been stagnating for 10 years in terms of prosperity (Lever Prosperity Index-wealth, education, health, institutions, etc.), on the 45th place in the world, and the lack of confidence between people and institutions brakes the competitiveness, according to economdia.ro.

“In the chapter of share capital (Social Capital Index – the degree of confidence between people and institutions no), Romania is in the 116th place, very, very close to the countries in which social relations of a tribal nature dominates,” said Sergiu Manea at the Film Festival and Râșnov histories, in the panel “beyond the fiscal consolidation”, we need Romania ” said the CEO of BCR.
The head of BCR has shown that Romania has good infrastructure and high penetration of smartphones, but needs digital education and digitalization of public services to recover the gaps.
“It is absolutely critical to do this, because otherwise … In the year of grace 2012, three children entered school, only two arrived at the baccalaureate. (…) We simply cannot afford”said Sergiu Manea.
Sergiu Manea is the CEO and chairman of the Executive Committee of the Romanian Commercial Bank. He took over the leadership of BCR in 2015. Also, Manea is a psursedist of the Council of Banking Patrons in Romania, vice -president of the Concordia Patronal Confederation and member of the Board of Directors Teach for Romania.

The government (21%) and the Parliament (23%) are at the bottom of the ranking regarding the confidence of Romanians in the institutions in the country, according to the data of the last Eurobarometer in this regard released in 2023. Also, only 22%of Romanians trust the political parties.
The Eurobarometer survey conducted by the European Commission, in January – February 2023, shows that the Romanians have the highest confidence in the army (61%), in the context in which Russia’s aggression against Ukraine takes place.
The top of the Romanian confidence continues with the medical system (52%), the European Union (52%), the country’s justice system (50%), police (49%) and NATO (46%).
At the tail of the ranking, next to the Government, Parliament and political parties, there are also the media, in which only 36% of Romanians trust. At the same time, only 42% of Romanians trust the local authorities in Romania.
