The coffin with the lifeless body of the former president of the Vrancea County Council, greeted with applause in Focșani

The hearse carrying the coffin with the lifeless body of the one who was the president of the Vrancea County Council, Cătălin Toma, stopped on Monday, for a few moments, at the headquarters of the CJ, for a last tribute.

The officials of the Vrancea County Council, but also of the Vrancea Prefecture and the Focșani City Hall, as well as ordinary citizens, said goodbye with applause to the former president of the Vrancea County Council, Cătălin Toma, who died on Saturday, at the age of 47.

They laid flowers, shed a tear and held a moment of silence for Cătălin Toma.

The hearse then moved to Jariștea, Cătălin Toma's hometown. The coffin was deposited at the Church “Adormirea Maicii Domnului”, Jariștea Parish 1, in the center of the commune, according to Vrancea 24.

Along with family, relatives and friends, residents of the commune, mayors and councilors were present.

All those who wish to pay their last respects can do so until Thursday, February 22, when the funeral ceremony will take place.

The President of Vrancea County Council, Cătălin Toma, died on Saturday morning, at the age of 47. He was hospitalized at the Matei Balș Institute in Bucharest.

Cătălin Toma was 47 years old, having been born on 11.12.1977. He graduated from the “Duiliu Zamfirescu” Theoretical High School, Odobești city, Vrancea county, and between 1996-1999 attended the courses of the Faculty of Philology, the Faculty of Sociology, Psychology and Pedagogy of the University of Bucharest.

Later, in the period 2006-2009, he attended the courses of the Faculty of Romanian Language and Literature – “Spiru Haret” University Bucharest, with a degree in Philology, specializing in French language and literature.

In the period 1999-24.06.2008 he was a teacher at the “Duiliu Zamfirescu” Theoretical High School in the city of Odobești, Vrancea county, and between 2003-2005, deputy director at the “Duiliu Zamfirescu” Theoretical High School in the city of Odobești, Vrancea county.

From January 2016 he was president of PNL Vrancea, and from 2020 the president of the Vrancea County Council.

He was a graduate of the Faculty of Sociology, Psychology and Pedagogy of the University of Bucharest. Since 2016, he was the president of the PNL county organization.
