The president of the institution, Cătălina Poiană, said in a press conference that the legislative changes are urgent and necessary, informs Agerpres. “We consider that Law 95/2006 in the current form can no longer work and we consider that the medical profession that is a liberal profession needs a separate law of the medical profession and this was one of the goals“, Said Poiană.
Another topic raised by the representative of the College of Physicians is the correct regulation of the medical error. “We consider that its correct regulation is important. A variant would be, for example, even to be included in the law of patients. I have obtained, so to speak, a commitment from the decision makers that they will accept these changes and that we will try not to have a political color. (…) Another legislative area that we must assume …. refers to the care of the patient above the medical care resources and the law of palliation“Added Poiană.
Regarding the current context of the health system, Cătălina Poiană also stressed the problem of the exodus of medical staff. “In 2024 compared to the year 2023 the highest growth in recent history with over 50% of the number of current professional certificates was registered. I make the specification that they were requested by doctors who intended to exercise their profession abroad”He said, emphasizing that the legislative changes are essential to combat this phenomenon.
Poiană mentioned that drafts for the new laws could be completed until the parliamentary vacation begins, and discussions with political decision makers are ongoing.
