According to hotnews.ro, the Ministry of Education has put into public debate a Minister’s Order introducing the possibility for faculties to offer licenses with double specialization. The draft states that double-major degrees will have a “major and a minor” major.
The document states that “a bachelor’s degree program with double specialization is established and organized at the proposal of the university senate, without going through accreditation procedures, with inclusion in the maximum number of students that can be schooled, approved for the two accredited specializations “.
Double specialization degree, examples
In the same Order, the Ministry of Education included the “List of double-major bachelor’s degree programs” that can be organized within universities. Here are some examples:
- biochemistry (major specialization) and computer science (secondary specialization);
- biology and ecology;
- geography and computer science;
- history and archaeology;
- religious studies and philosophy;
- journalism and digital media;
In total, there are 209 such types of licenses, with double specialization.

Completion of the studies is achieved by taking the license exam of the didactic license program with double specialization and consists of taking two tests: a written exam from the two specializations and their didactics in pre-university education, and taking a research-action type license thesis in the field of teaching, learning and assessment of the discipline(s) the future graduate is to teach
The graduate of this type of program receives a single diploma attesting to all the skills acquired. The diploma received will allow the graduate to enroll in master’s degree programs
What scholarships will students receive?
The Ministry of Education also proposes that students who attend the courses of the didactic license with double specialization in a state higher education institution can benefit from scholarships financed from the state budget, in an amount equal to the net salary of a debutante teacher.
