The demand for romantic holidays increased by 25%. Where do Romanians go and how much are they willing to pay

The demand for romantic holidays has increased by 25%, according to a well-known tour operator who made a list of the main destinations.

Demand for romantic holidays increased by 25%

The year 2024 begins with a significant growth of the demand for romantic holidays on the occasion of Valentine's Day, March 8 or Dragobete. The growth rate is approximately 25% compared to the same period last year and reflects the growing desire of our customers to celebrate these special moments in destinations with exotic settings and services to match. If we were to make a list of the romantic destinations searched for this year by Romanians, it looks as follows: Maldives, Mauritius, Punta Cana (Dominican Republic), Seychelles, Mexico” declares Ana Maria Gherasim, Eturia Sales Director.

While some Romanians still enjoy stays in exotic destinations or skiing, thus ending the winter vacation season, others show an increased interest in beach or city & beach vacation packages, which offer them a combination of exoticism, relaxation and romantic atmosphere. The destinations that enjoy a particularly high demand during this period are: Maldives, Punta Cana, Mauritius, Seychelles, but also Cuba, Mexico, Thailand or Dubai & Ras Al Khaimah. Crystal clear waters, sandy beaches and exotic atmosphere make these places the right choice for those who want a romantic escape.

Among the most requested services from our tourists are SPA experiences, sunset cruises, candlelit dinners on the beach, rooms with private pool or jacuzzi,” says Eturia's manager

Depending on the chosen destination, the packages have between 9-11 days of vacation, enjoy discounts of up to 600 euros/ package/person, during this period, and include plane tickets, airport taxes for international and domestic flights, luggage check-in for flights, accommodation at the chosen hotels, in the specified room type, with the meals mentioned in the program.

The rates for the packages promoted during special periods such as Valentine's Day, March 8 and Dragobete are set according to various elements, including the chosen destination, the travel period or the chosen hotel. For example, for a beach stay in Mauritius, between February 13-23 that includes accommodation with breakfast, the price starts from €1,690 / pers. / package, while for an exotic getaway in Punta Cana, between the 28 February – March 8, at a 5* All Inclusive hotel, the price starts from €1,890 / pers./ package. For those who want to spend Women's Day on a beach break in the Maldives, from March 1-10, at a hotel with breakfast included, enjoying the comfort of a charter flight of only 8 hours to the destination, I can starting from €1,890 / pers./ package.

“Searches for vacations in these periods begin to manifest early. Our customers usually plan/book their vacations about 6 months in advance, wanting to secure their spots in their dream destinations and benefit from great deals. However, we also noticed at the beginning of this year an interesting trend among certain tourists who opt for Last Minute packages. This option becomes attractive for those who are spontaneous or who want to take advantage of unmissable opportunities at the last minute. So, we have clients who do reservations both in advance, to secure their seats on the much-desired vacation, and on the last hundred meters, thus catching the special offers,” declares Ana Maria Gerasim
