The dental clinic where a two-year-old girl died has been closed. The announcement made by the Ministry of Health

The Ministry of Health informs that the State Sanitary Inspection (ISS) has completed the control report carried out in the case of the dental clinic where the tragedy occurred on November 13, 2025 – when a two-year-old girl died during anesthesia – and announces the suspension of the activity of Crystal Dental Clinic SRL.

“Following the checks, several non-conformities of an administrative nature were found, including the operation of some medical offices located on the ground floor of the building without holding a sanitary operating permit.

As a result of the identified deviations, the medical activity was suspended and contraventional sanctions were applied in the total amount of 100,000 lei”, stated the Ministry of Health, on Monday, in a statement.

The ISS control report was submitted to the Prosecutor’s Office attached to the High Court of Cassation and Justice for analysis and further legal proceedings.

“The Ministry of Health reaffirms its firm commitment to transparency and compliance with the legal framework, as well as its willingness to fully cooperate with the competent authorities during the ongoing procedures.

Due to the ongoing criminal investigation, the institution cannot provide additional information at this time. The responsibilities of the Ministry of Health end with the submission of the documentation to the competent authorities”, it is also shown in the communique.

We remind you that on Sunday, November 16, the clinic reported that the location authorization situation was being finalized.

The headquarters had a permit to operate, but the final authorization was being issued

The representatives of the clinic specify that the premises where the intervention took place had a permit to operate, but the final sanitary authorization had not yet been issued, an aspect they categorize as “an exclusively administrative issue, which belongs to the management”.

Management claims that medical staff were not informed of this situation and had no involvement in the authorization process. At the same time, the clinic states that the medical facilities were complete and in accordance with legal requirements.

The Minister of Health shows that in the clinic where the tragedy took place “the minimum equipment required for dental interventions to be performed under general anesthesia did not exist, and here I mean vital functions monitor, I mean oxygen and certainly other minimal equipment so that this intervention can be carried out safely”.

The clinic’s lawyer, Tudor Valerică, contradicts Minister Rogobete and claims that that cabinet “had all the necessary minimum”.

The activity in that office was suspended

After the tragedy occurred, “activity at that facility was suspended immediately. Patient treatments were relocated to the other Crystal Dental Clinics, which are fully licensed.”

The authorities’ investigation is ongoing

The medical causes of the tragedy are being investigated by forensic doctors, investigative bodies and the Medical College. Up to this point, the clinic states that there is no official conclusion linking the administrative situation of the facility to the cause of death.

The representatives emphasize that, during the emergency intervention, the medical staff “he acted with only one goal: to save the patient” and that no outsiders were called.

“Our only interest is to find out the truth. Crystal Dental Clinic SRL fully cooperates with all the authorities and provides all the requested documents”, it is mentioned in the communication.

The position of the clinic towards the family

Crystal Dental Clinic sends its condolences to the little girl’s family and says it will continue to support the investigation to establish the truth.
