This is the capital of Germany, Berlin, which remained behind the post-pandemic boom recorded in other parts of Europe, writes Mediafax.

“We do not really have a problem with excessive tourism. The city is great and people spread. Especially in summer, when the Berliners are gone, there is a lot of space.”said Christian Taenzler, spokesman for the Visitberlin Tourism Council, according to Reuters.

Before pandemic, Berlin attracted almost 14 million tourists, with 34 million nights. In the first half of this year, the capital of Germany attracted 5.9 million visitors, registering 13.9 million nights of accommodation, according to the Berlin-Brandenburg Statistics Office.

In addition, despite higher air tariffs, Berlin restaurants, hotels and attractions remain relatively accessible.

“Berlin prices are absolutely moderate”said Jan Philipp Bubinger, the administrative partner of Staedige Vertretung.

In 2023, tourism generated 4.6% of Berlin’s production. On the other hand, tourism represents 14% of the local economy in Paris and Rome and 8% of Madrid.
