The procedure, developed by the Gameto company, differs from traditional in vitro fertilization by using ovarian support cells derived from induced pluripotent stem cells, co-cultured with an immature egg, to mimic the natural process of egg maturation.

This innovative technology, called Fertilo, is less invasive, faster, safer and more affordable than conventional in vitro fertilization, which led to the birth of the first baby in 1978, say Gameto representatives. Practically, it reduces the number of hormonal injections required by 80% and shortens the duration of the treatment to just three days.

The first baby was born using this technique at the Santa Isabel Clinic in Lima, Peru, and his mother says that she preferred Fertilo precisely because it is less invasive in harvesting eggs and due to the reduced number of injections, notes News.ro.

Gameto recently announced a collaboration with the IVFAustralia clinic, with the aim of expanding the availability of the Fertilo method in several countries, including Australia, Japan, Argentina, Paraguay, Mexico and Peru.

At the same time, the company is preparing for the third phase clinical tests that it will carry out in the United States.
