Diagnosis of syncope, now more precise
Syncope, popularly called fainting, is a temporary loss of consciousness caused by a sudden reduction in blood flow to the brain. This can have various causes, from heart conditions, neurological or metabolic disorders, to situational factors. It is a common but complex problem and requires careful evaluation to identify triggers and prevent recurrent episodes or severe complications. Syncope is considered a medical emergency, for which the patient should go to an emergency medical service.
The SANADOR Syncope Laboratory has high-performance equipment for carrying out specific investigations. The cardiological evaluation is followed by specific tests, which may include electrocardiogram, tilt table test (tilt test), Sudoscan test, Holter ECG monitoring of the heart’s electrical activity, ambulatory blood pressure monitoring, cardiac loop recorder monitoring, cardiopulmonary testing of effort (CPET).
“The inauguration of the SANADOR Syncope Laboratory represents an important step for private medicine in Romania. Patients will benefit from rapid access to complex investigations and treatment solutions adapted to their needs in the first complete syncope evaluation laboratory in the private medical system in Romania, according to international standards,” said Dr. Anca Danprimary cardiology doctor, coordinator of the SANADOR Syncope Laboratory.
Depending on the doctor’s recommendation, the SANADOR Syncope Center also carries out advanced investigations, such as electrophysiological studies in the Interventional Arrhythmology Laboratory, imaging examinations of the heart (echocardiography, coronary angiography, cardiac MRI, angio-CT, cardiac SPECT-CT) and cardiac imaging of the brain (CT and MRI of the brain).
Following these investigations, the doctor with expertise in syncope interprets the results, establishes the diagnosis and recommends therapeutic management for each individual patient.
Multidisciplinary team for personalized care
