The first miracle in a man’s life. The experience we can only survive when we are born

The first breath of air in a person’s life is a true miracle, say neonatology specialists. The baby’s resistance to the forces involved in the first breath is still a mystery. At the same time, it is also considered the hardest moment in a man’s life, the one that decides his life or death.

The first breath is the hardest moment in a man’s life PHOTO The truth

Man is still a mysterious and at the same time miraculous being, experts say. There are quite a few aspects of life and the functioning of the human body that have not yet been scientifically explained, such as dreams or how human feelings arise. Also in the chapter of miracle and mystery is man’s ability to resist the first breath of his life. It is considered the most difficult moment in the life of a human being, which decides his fate.

The force of the first breath could destroy an adult’s lungs

When it is born, the baby enjoys its first breath of air. Apparently a simple, involuntary process for adults, in the newborn, experts say, is a superhuman effort. A fight for life. Doctors say that, in fact, our lungs, intra-uterine, are filled with fluid and are not functional. When we are born, in order to survive, we are forced to remove that liquid from our lungs and let oxygen penetrate through every cell. Doctors describe this phenomenon as a real miracle. “Intra-uterine lungs are two bags of water. They are not functional. The moment the child is born, the miracle happens. It’s actually a huge pressure that forces the lungs to expel that water and the baby starts to breathe.”declares neonatologist Carmen Zaboloteanu, from the Botoșani Maternity Hospital.

The force exerted in expelling that fluid from the lungs is incredible. If the same pressure were exerted on them as that to which the organ of a new-born is exposed, the lungs of an adult individual would be destroyed. “Same pressure, more than 40 millimeters per column of mercury, would destroy the lungs of an adult. It would cause a pneumothorax. It’s a huge pressure. Well, this pressure means life, for a newborn. First breath”, adds Carmen Zaboloteanu.

The hardest moment in a man’s life

Specialists say that exactly this first breath is the most difficult moment in a person’s life, the one that makes the difference between life and death. That pressure is overwhelming and takes incredible effort on the part of a newborn. An effort that, at the peak, in adult life, we would no longer be able to do without severe injuries, which would endanger our lives. “Ano matter how hard it would be, as hard as in the first second, when we start to breathe, it will never be again”. claims doctor Carmen Zaboloteanu.

The greatest effort to breathe is that of a premature baby. He is born prematurely, is smaller, more fragile, with various medical problems caused precisely by the fact that he did not spend enough time in the mother’s womb. However, the will to survive is so great that that miracle occurs. “When the baby is not ready, either premature or has other problems, this expulsion of fluid does not happen. The lungs do not eliminate, do not start to work. This is the first problem in a premature baby. When they don’t remove that liquid, they try it themselves. They begin to increase the pressure in their lungs, they try to breathe in a certain way. He has a certain moaning, as we say, we see how that child tries to breathe faster, it seems that something hurts. He tries to build up the pressure in his lungs trying to breathe properly. It is something exceptional. That’s how wonderful the human body is.” concludes Carmen Zaboloteanu.
