The Romanian coach has been suffering for some time of coxarthrosis, a disease that his former colleague from Dinamo and the national, Cornel Dinu, is facing. Mircea Lucescu decided to be operated on to get rid of the problem, undergoing surgery performed by the orthopedic doctor Vlad Predescu.

After 6 days on the hospital bed, the legendary coach, 79 years old, was released today, being expected by his wife, Neli Lucescu, and a close friend. The coach needed the support of the close ones to get in the car.
The recovery after such an operation lasts about a month, so Mircea Lucescu will be in full force to prepare national in the debut of the World Championship preliminaries, the first match being scheduled on March 21, with Bosnia and Herzegovina.
