The folkist Marius Marius Baţu, a legend of folk music, died at the age of 65. The news comes on the same day that the artist Gabriel Cotabiță died.

“He left us Marius Batu. Early, much too early… A special artist, a wonderful voice, a colleague I rarely met, a particularly good man, a friend! His heart stopped beating and his ‘whispered song’ faded away. Smooth journey to the stars Kir Marius, may God rest you!”, wrote artist Nicu Alifantis on Facebook on Saturday.

And Mircea Baniciu reacted:

“A very sad news this morning… Marius Batu has left us. Very good musician, stage colleague and good friend! Smooth road!”.

“What day is this in which Gabriel Emil Cotabita and Marius Baţu have left… Where are you rushing like that, all of you, that you are confusing us… Let it be light for you where you will be. God keep you close“, Anca Florea also wrote on Facebook.
