French referee Francois Letexier will officiate the match between the national football teams of Romania and Turkey, which will take place on Thursday, from 19:00, at the “Beşiktaș Park” stadium in Istanbul, in the semi-finals of the play-off for the qualification for the 2026 World Cup, according to the UEFA website.
The assistant referees will be Cyril Mugnier and Mehdi Rahmouni, and the fourth official has been delegated Benoît Bastien.
The Bosnian Elmir Pilav was appointed UEFA observer for the referees, while the representative of the continental forum will be the Czech Emil Ubias.
With him at the center, the national team never lost
Letexier, who refereed the EURO 2024 final, will referee a match of the tricolors for the fourth time, states FRF. The previous three matches were Lithuania – Romania 1-2 (October 11, 2018), Romania – Northern Ireland 1-1 (September 4, 2020) and Israel – Romania 1-2 (November 18, 2023), a match that brought qualification to EURO 2024.
Romania’s national football team will meet Turkey, on Thursday, in Istanbul, from 19:00, in the play-off semifinals for the 2026 World Cup. Depending on the results of the play-off semifinals, on March 31, from 21:45, the national team prepared by Mircea Lucescu will play in Slovakia or Kosovo, the play-off final or a friendly match.
