Mircea Lucescu’s departure from us, on April 7, left a void that is hard to put into words. Three days later, he was led down the last road in an atmosphere overwhelmed by sadness, but marked by the respect due to a huge personality of Romanian football.
The funeral service was held at the Church of Saint Eleftherie and the burial took place at the Bellu Cemetery, where family, friends and football people said their goodbyes.
Far from the country, the Tottenham-licensed defender, one of the players who worked closely with Lucescu on the national team, could not be present at the ceremony. However, his gesture was not long in coming.
Shortly after the funeral, Radu Drăgușin changed his Instagram profile picture to a completely black image, a simple but powerful sign of mourning and respect.
Like Radu Drăgușin, Denis Drăguș also chose to show his respect through the same gesture.

“Thanks for everything, Mister!”
Furthermore, his last social media post was dedicated to the former selector, an emotional farewell message.
“It is all the more painful, because we have lost a man who formed characters and inspired entire generations. For me, he was one of the people who gave even more meaning to this path, through his special way of seeing football.
Through everything he meant for the national team, Mircea Lucescu showed us what the responsibility of wearing this shirt means. His legacy will live on in each of us. Thanks for everything, Mister. Rest in peace. I am privileged to have had the chance to work together!”Drăgușin transmitted, on April 7, shortly after the passing of the former selector.
