The final negotiations seem to have ended, but without thanking all the pro-European parties desired by President Nicușor Dan in the new government coalition. The future executive could be left without UDMR, who join the Social Democrats in expressing dissatisfaction with negotiations.
UDMR would try to compensate for the loss of the Ministry of Finance Mediafax / collage
After a month of negotiations to bring the PSD to the government, the coalition would have reached a consensus on a new governmental rock on which not everyone is satisfied. However, PSD still does not have a clear vote for the entry into government. At the same time, now, signs of dissatisfaction have also appeared among UDMR.
Following the last negotiations for the PSD-PNL-USR-UDMR coalition, the Hungarians would lose the Ministry of Finance and remain with the Portfolio of Development and that of Culture.
“We will decide if we enter the government, after we close the negotiations” – Kelemen Hunor, president of UDMR
The head of the UDMR, Kelemen Hunor publicly expressed his dissatisfaction with the fact that the Union remains without any endorsing ministry. “Let’s see if we will understand each other on the fiscal program and the reform. We would have no influence on major decisions. We can’t just be decor. We will decide if we go to government, after closing the negotiations. We’ll see. It can be without us. It is not altruism, it is arithmetic and political government would mean that you find a balance and the solution that everyone has something to say. If you are a decor you have no endorsement ministries, you are shape and you are there just to be. So it was in 2023”, Explains Kelemen Hunor in an interview with RFI.
The UDMR remained outside the governance at the Rotary of 2023, when the Liberals were the ones who had ruined the Union calculations, who then left the PSD-PNL-UDMR coalition.
The key, at the environmental portfolio
The dissatisfaction appeared after the liberal Ilie Bolojan, who would be appointed prime minister by the president to form the government, announced his intention to appoint someone else in front of the Ministry of Finance, a portfolio that is currently owned by UDMR. Thus, Marcel Boloș, the current Minister of European Funds, or Alexandru Nazare, former Minister of Economy in the Cîțu office, could arrive in Finance.
According to information “Adevărul”, the UDMR would try to obtain the environmental portfolio, but it is already awarded to the USR, which considers the negotiations concluded. Thus, the Hungarians asked for a new series of discussions with President Nicușor Dan, who convened the parties leaders to a new discussion at the Cotroceni Palace.
PSD, on a powder barrel
But also in the PSD there are dissatisfaction, although it has negotiated the most ministries, more precisely 6. Some voices have requested “ministries” with USR, while others have expressed their disagreement with losing the portfolio from the defense. Other portfolios that would have been requested in the party are those from foreign, medium and development.
But the Social Democrats received everything they requested. At least, this made the interim chief of the PSD, Sorin Grindeanu: “The negotiations were a success, we will have a government rotary that will be written in the Coalition Agreement ”. PSD also asked for portfolios from justice and transport. In addition to these, their portfolios from health, work, agriculture and MIPE or the Ministry of Energy will return.
If we contest on ministers, we break the party in two – George Soldan, president of CJ Suceava
Sorin Grindeanu’s attempts to thank the social-democratic leaders, even by organizing an internal competition for obtaining the functions of ministers, did not bear fruit, shows the stenograms of the meeting. “You are the president of the party and you have to take on the list of ministers. Anyway, we all give us phones between us and the leadership is growing. If we contest on ministers, we break the party in two. And so the party is on the ground. I am interested in having a party in 2028. When I apply for Suceava to do it from PSD, in 2028 ”, George Soldan, president of Suceava County Council, supported in meeting.
The PSD will have a meeting on Friday in which the party’s entry of the party will vote, and on Saturday, in another meeting, they would choose their ministers. The two meeting come after new consultations convened, on Thursday, June 19, at the Cotroceni Palace by President Nicușor Dan.
New calculations from Parliament
In total, 279 parliamentarians would have the PSD-PNL-USR coalition, supported by the group of minorities in Parliament, that is, more than the 233 parliamentarians needed for the majority of 464 in the Parliament. 200 at the Chamber of Deputies and 79 in the Senate would have the coalition without UDMR.
At the same time, about 30 parliamentarians, non -affiliates, former members of SOS Romania and Pot, announced the formation of the “First Romania” Alliance, a sovereign pole “with European visions”, which could add votes to support the future Executive. The new alliance has announced that it is a possibility, if the future government will take radical measures for the development of the Romanian economy.
However, the Alliance specifies that it does not agree with the taxes of taxes and taxes and requires five reforms: “It is primarily about the administrative-territorial reform. We are prepared, we have law projects in this regard. It is mandatory, because there are the biggest problems that Romania has today. Another reform is the reform of the budget apparatus. And there, you know very well, it is a huge pressure on the business environment and every citizen of Romania.
We also want reforms in the field of justice, where you know how many problems have been in the last 35 years and no clear, concise decisions have been taken to save citizens and Romania. We also want reforms in terms of education, which is on the ground today, and also the health system. And last but not least, reforms and laws and special laws for the Romanian capital, for our SMEs ”said the deputylider of the Senate Parliamentary group of SOS Romania, Dorin Silviu Petrea, at the Parliament Palace, according to Agerpres.
