The government is to set the date of the presidential elections and partial local elections in Thursday’s meeting

The government will decide in the meeting on Thursday, January 16, the date of the first round of the presidential and partial local elections and an analysis of the draft GEO regarding some measures for the organization and conduct of the election.

The decision enters into force on February 18, after which the Government has 5 days to approve the electoral calendar, according to News.ro.

The first round of the presidential elections and partial local elections will take place on May 4, according to the Government’s decision, while the second round takes place two weeks later, on May 18.

According to Law 370/2004 for the election of the President of Romania, the electoral campaign begins 30 days before the election date and ends on the morning of the Saturday before the election date, at 7:00 am.

In addition to the presidential elections, the Government wants to organize elections for CJ Bijor on the same day, in the context in which Ilie Bolojan is now the president of the Senate, but also in the cities of: Zalău, Buşteni, Ulmeni and Oţelu Roşu.

Also, on May 4, the citizens of the following municipalities will also vote:

  • Bihor County – Căbeşti, Rieni;
  • Botoşani Avrămeni county, Coşula
  • Caraş-Severin – Lăpuşnicel county
  • Cluj County – Valea Ierii
  • Constanţa – Limanu county
  • Dâmboviţa county – Gura Ocniţei
  • Giurgiu – Buturugeni county
  • Iasi – Helesteni county
  • Olt county – Iancu Jianu, Mihaesti
  • Teleorman county – Drăgăneşti-Vlaşca.
