The head of DIICOT Sălaj, outraged by Oana Gheorghiu’s statements: “I found out with astonishment that, in fact, my pension will be paid from the money of the children and the sick”

The chief prosecutor of DIICOT Sălaj, Dan Bubuiug, reacted to the statements of Deputy Prime Minister Oana Gheorghiu regarding the service pensions of magistrates. In a post published on Facebook, he said he was offended by the deputy prime minister’s statements and emphasized that he does his job with passion and dedication, without additional benefits.

“After about 27 hours of work (without overtime pay or other benefits) I got home and went to rest. When I woke up, watching the news online, I was shocked to learn that in fact my pension will be paid from the money of the children and the sick… and I who thought I had fought all my career against evildoers to protect these people. Obviously, I will continue to do my job, with passion and dedication, as and so far, because I believe in what I do, but I just want to say this: I felt offended by these statements, coming from an official of the Romanian state”, wrote prosecutor Bubuiug, on Facebook.

He also recounted how a recent work day went, to show the volume and intensity of activity in the judicial system. According to his account, he coordinated, together with police officers from Organized Crime, an action to catch red-handed a man from Maramureș suspected of trafficking high-risk drugs and psychoactive substances, followed by house searches and a proposal for preventive arrest, later admitted by the court.

His statements come after Deputy Prime Minister Oana Gheorghiu stated, on Saturday, in a show on Digi24, that Romania can no longer afford to pay special pensions, claiming that the current system is “a kind of Caritas”.

“That money is not printed and comes out of thin air, it comes from somewhere and maybe that’s what people don’t understand that when you get privileges, for you to have privileges, someone is left behind. Maybe we should go back a little to this consciousness of citizens, have it and talk openly. Every privilege someone has means on the other side a hole. Let them think about what hole would be acceptable for them to continue taking that money. In these terms I would discuss openly with the magistrates. I don’t have this role. It’s purely a personal opinion that I haven’t said before, but that’s how I see things.” explained Saturday, November 8, Oana Gheorghiu.

The chief prosecutor of DIICOT Sălaj, Dan Bubuiug, was not the only one disturbed by the recent statements of the deputy prime minister. A CSM member, Alin Ene, accuses her of inciting “class hatred in its purest form”.
